Britain’s Got Talent Series 17 returned this weekend, as judge Bruno Tonioli hit the Golden Buzzer for an incredible singer. Taryn Charles wowed the crowd with her rendition of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”

Before performing, Taryn undersold her talent, telling the judges that she thinks her voice “is all right.” She shared that she’s a teacher who uses music to work with special needs children. One of her students was in the audience with her mother.

Taryn went on to sing “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” famously performed by both Aretha Franklin and Carole King. The performance clearly wowed both the judges and audience, as Taryn belted out the lyrics.

The singer earned not one but two standing ovations. During the second one, the crowd chanted for the judges to hit the Golden Buzzer. Tonioli took the hint, choosing to send Taryn straight to the live shows. She was emotional as the gold confetti rained onto the stage.

What Did the Judges Think of the Performance?

Judge Alesha Dixon told Taryn that she loved her raspy tone, telling her she “could sing the phone book.” Amanda Holden loved how sweet and humble Taryn was, even before she started singing. She added that she could “see how much that moment meant to you.”

Tonioli told Taryn that Carole King stayed at his house once, and he wondered how she would pull off the song. However, he shared, “You made me forget about her version. You made it so much your own, with so much feeling. The color of your voice is unique, and you’re a very, very, very special person.”

Simon Cowell asked if anyone had ever discouraged Taryn from pursuing her dream, and she said they had. He told her that she proved that person wrong with her audition. Cowell called Taryn a star, saying her talent is “proper singing.”
