Funkanometry is one of 55 acts competing for America’s vote in the America’s Got Talent Season 17 live shows. The young duo shared in their audition that they want to bring fun and positivity to people through their dance routines.

Funkanometry Is a Dance Duo from Canada

Funkanometry is made up of Jacksun Fryer and Carlow Rush, a 19-year-old and 20-year-old from Vancouver Island, Canada. They shared in their audition that the name Funkanometry comes from a fusion of their “funky style” with the geometric shapes they make when they dance.

“Our parents put us in hip hop class when we were kids and we loved it,” they shared in a 2021 interview. “The teachers saw potential and kept challenging us.”

Jacksun shared in their audition that their goal is to “give a lot of smiles to the world.” In 2020, the duo’s social media started to grab attention during the pandemic. Then in 2021, their dance video set to “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees went viral, racking up millions of views.

The duo currently has over 786,000 followers on TikTok, where they post dance videos set to popular music. This also isn’t their first time on a talent show. Funkanometry previously competed on World of Dance Season 3 in 2019. They made it through three rounds of the competition with some amazing hip-hop routines.

The Judges Were Impressed by Their Audition

Funkanometry auditioned for AGT Season 17 with an energetic routine set to “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire, which transitioned into “Superfreak” by Rick James. They showed off amazing synchronicity and stage presence that had the audience going wild for them.

The judges praised the duo, with Simon Cowell telling them “it wasn’t long enough.” Howie Mandel commended their music choices and how they told a story. All four judges voted “yes” to sending Funkanometry through, and they were chosen to move on to the live shows.

The duo will take the stage again on Tuesday night on NBC, performing another routine in the hope of earning America’s votes to move on to the Finals of Season 17.
