The Season 2 finale of Canada’s Drag Race premiered on Crave Thursday night, and drag queen Icesis Couture (aka Steven Granados-Portelance) was named the winner. The show is, of course, Canada’s answer to RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Icesis Couture Wins ‘Canada’s Drag Race’ Season 2

The season premiered in October and started with 12 contestants. During this week’s finale, Icesis was crowned the Season 2 winner, while Kendall Gender and Pythia finished as runners-up. Suki Doll was voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow queens.

Icesis is from Ottawa and previously won Miss Capital Pride in 2020. Her final Drag Race performance featured “Queen of the North” by the show’s host and judge Brooke Lynn Hytes and a “coronation eleganza” look for the runway.

“I started my journey on Drag Race as an outsider, but I’m ending it having made more than just one friend,” Icesis said in a statement. “To all my fellow outsiders who feel like they have nowhere to fit in, just know you are not alone. You will always have a place with me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to show my authentic self and share this amazing moment with all of you.”

Earlier this week, Icesis posted about her journey on Instagram, writing, “I have spent the last 15 years working hard, sacrificing, learning and growing to prepare for this moment.” She added that even if she lost, “I finally feel like the world sees me.”

Is the Show Renewed for Season 3?

Fans of Canada’s Drag Race will be happy to know that the show has already been renewed for a third season. The news was confirmed in November. Unfortunately, casting is now closed according to the audition website.

Contestants on the show compete for a $100,000 prize and to be named Canada’s Next Drag Superstar. Drag queen Priyanka (aka Mark Suknanan) won the first season of the spin-off series last year. She recently co-hosted the CCMA Awards with country singer Lindsay Ell.

Meanwhile, the latest Drag Race spin-off hitting our screens is Queen of the Universe on Paramount+, which is a singing competition in which the queens aren’t allowed to lip sync. Former American Idol contestant Ada Vox has been killing it so far.
