American Idol Season 16 winner Maddie Poppe has released a new single called “Good Enough to Let You Go.” The funky track has a similar vibe to her 2022 single “One That Got Away.” It has us excited to potentially hear a new album from the singer soon.
Maddie Poppe Releases ‘Good Enough to Let You Go’
Poppe shared on Instagram that she wrote “Good Enough to Let You Go” over a year ago with David Spencer and Bryan Simpson. The single’s artwork features a photo of Poppe wearing a blue metallic pantsuit with white boots.
Poppe carries that ’70s feeling into the song itself, which might just have you dancing along. In the lyrics, she sings about being hung up on her ex and wishing they would treat her worse so it would be easier to let them go.
“Oh, hurt me / Make me feel unworthy / Baby, leave me lonely, ghost me / Good enough to make me go and hate you,” Poppe sings on the song’s chorus. “Scratch you out, erase you / Don’t show me no mercy, hurt me / Good enough to let you go.”
The song has a similar message as her recent release “Screw You a Little Bit,” in which she chastises the song’s subject for “making me feel wanted, but I’m still sleeping on my own.”

Is Poppe Releasing Another Album Soon?
Poppe released the album Whirlwind in 2019 after winning American Idol. She’s followed that up with several new singles since last year, including “One That Got Away,” “Peace of Mind,” and “Screw You a Little Bit.” It makes us wonder if a new album is on the horizon.
In March, when Poppe released “Screw You a Little Bit,” she wrote on Instagram that the song was written on “the first day of the start of a really really special project.” Could this be her way of teasing that a full album is coming soon?
Earlier this week, Poppe also announced that she’ll be joining singer Joshua Radin on part of his tour this fall. Poppe will be appearing during several dates in September.
